Wendy Babcox was born in 1963 in Windsor, England. She currently lives and works in Tampa, Florida where she is on the faculty at the University of South Florida, where she teaches photography and related media. Wendy is a founding member of 6+ Collective, a group of women artists, which facilitates exhibitions, performances, publications and collaborative activities.

Babcox’s work exists in a wide variety of media but her practice is primarily based in the photographic media and its hybrid forms. Her work in photography aims to explore a human relationship to place and calls upon a human engagement with, and impact on the landscape in the form of interventions. Recent photographs explore the marks we make in our shared landscapes, from the magnificent in scale to the seemingly insignificant gestures of daily life.

Babcox exhibits her work nationally and internationally including venues in Peru, New Zealand, Russia and Mexico among other places. She has completed two large-scale public artworks, one of which is a permanent installation at the Tampa International Airport. Individual projects have been featured at the Orlando Museum of Art, The Front in New Orleans, the Urban Institute of Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids and at the Transmodern Age Festival in Baltimore.
